High-resolution observations of prominence plume formation with the new vacuum solar telescope

چکیده
Prominence plumes are evacuated upflows that emerge from bubbles below prominences, whose formation mechanism is still unclear. Here we present a detailed study of in quiescent prominence using the high-resolution Hα filtergrams at line center as well wing ± 0.4 Å New Vacuum Solar Telescope. Enhancements brightening, blue shifts, and turbulence fronts found during their formation. Some large split heads finger-shaped structures formed between them. Blue-shifted flows along bubble-prominence interface before plume Our observations consistent with hypothesis related to coupled Kelvin-Helmholtz Rayleigh-Taylor (KH/RT) instabilities. Plume splittings fingers evidence RT instability, may increase growth rate KH/RT However, significant suggest instability triggered by penetrating into prominence. In this scenario, extra mechanisms necessary drive plumes.

Witnessing magnetic twist with high-resolution observation from the 1.6-m New Solar Telescope
Magnetic flux ropes are highly twisted, current-carrying magnetic fields. They are crucial for the instability of plasma involved in solar eruptions, which may lead to adverse space weather effects. Here we present observations of a flaring using the highest resolution chromospheric images from the 1.6-m New Solar Telescope at Big Bear Solar Observatory, supplemented by a magnetic field extrapo...
متن کاملSolar System Observations with the James Webb Space Telescope
The James Webb Space Telescope will enable a wealth of new scientific investigations in the nearand midinfrared, with sensitivity and spatial/spectral resolution greatly surpassing its predecessors. In this paper, we focus upon Solar System science facilitated by JWST, discussing the most current information available concerning JWST instrument properties and observing techniques relevant to pl...
متن کاملHigh-resolution Timing Observations of Spin-powered Pulsars with the Agile Gamma-ray Telescope
AGILE is a small gamma-ray astronomy satellite mission of the Italian Space Agency dedicated to high-energy astrophysics launched in 2007 April. Its ∼1 μs absolute time tagging capability coupled with a good sensitivity in the 30 MeV–30 GeV range, with simultaneous X-ray monitoring in the 18–60 keV band, makes it perfectly suited for the study of gamma-ray pulsars following up on the CGRO/EGRET...
متن کاملHigh-resolution Imaging of the Upper Solar Chromosphere: First Light Performance of the Very-high-resolution Advanced Ultraviolet Telescope
The Very-high-resolution Advanced ULtraviolet Telescope (VAULT) experiment was successfully launched on 7 May 1999 on a Black Brant sounding rocket vehicle from White Sands Missile Range. The instrument consists of a 30 cm UV diffraction limited telescope followed by a two-grating, zero-dispersion spectroheliograph tuned to isolate the solar Lα emission line. During the flight, the instrument s...
متن کاملExploration of Solar Chromosphere Using High Resolution Spectroscopic Observations
Brazilian Solar Spectroscope (BSS), operating in the frequency range of (1000 − 2500) MHz with high time and frequency resolutions, has observed various fine structures showing intensity variations as functions of time and frequency. Here we are reporting radio bursts observed by BSS, from August to October/2001, exhibiting fine structures with total duration of the order of 300 ms, covering a ...
